Catch Your Breath

You catch your breath
When you realize
You have been caught
Bowling on the green
Eating Morgan pudding in town
With greasy fingers
That smell of feces

You catch your breath
When you learn
You have been caught
Taking money from soldiers
Claiming an education
But being uneducated
You are a drop out

You catch your breath
When you recognize
You have been caught
Your lies exposed
Before all the world
Crying "Innocent!"
As  you are incarcerated

You catch your breath
When you discover
You are in a prison
Of your own making
A life sentence
Till the day you die
Without parole
