Four thousand one hundred nine days
My how time creeps along
When fear is your only friend
Shame is your motivation
To keep the secret
Hid as best as you can
Four thousand one hundred nine days
Only to be rewarded with
Your hand around my throat
Squeezing away my breath
As you hissed in my ear
If you leave me I'll kill you bitch
Four thousand one hundred nine days
So I waited until you slept
The sleep that only drunk men sleep
Then we ran away
With little more than our clothes
Things can be replaced
Four thousand one hundred nine days
With every creaking floorboard
My heart felt like it would burst
From fear-induced adrenalin
Shhhhhh! Don't wake
Oh please don't wake
Four thousand one hundred nine days
Away away fly away
Quietly, holding my breath
The city fades behind us
My son quietly watches
The semi-trucks on the freeway
Four thousand one hundred nine days
The miles zip past us
He smiles in the rearview mirror
Four thousand one hundred nine days
Fade like the memory
Of a nightmare
Four thousand one hundred nine days
From now I'm sure
I will look at your picture
Think about those days
And feel
Nothing
